Finally Off the Dock

I got up at 6 to wake up the crew. A few more shipmates arrived last night but we’re still missing 3 of them. We had cereal for breakfast and then the entire program got together for a dock chat with Mike that basically introduced us all to AQ. After about a half an hour on shore we set sail for Peter Island. I was on the helm for the entire day and it was so much fun. Meghann taught everyone the basic knots and Kris gave a short sail chat. The sail was a couple hours long and consisted of us tacking many times through the channel. When we arrived at Peter Island we received our last 3 shipmates and did a checkout dive to review all the skills we learned in our open water course. After surfacing we swam and took our first salt water showers while our chefs cooked sloppy joes, mashed potatoes, and salad for dinner. It was delicious! We’re all about to go over to Panasea for an orientation with all the dive side boats. Can’t wait to see what we do tomorrow!
