Yet again, Avizia has had a tremendous day. I woke up on the blue lagoon, comfortable and relaxed, after being allowed 30 minuets of sleeping in. I woke up next to drooling Nora and sleepy Liz, proof of an amazing night’s sleep. When I woke up, I walked outside to see the beautiful view in front of me. The music today was especially amazing. Credits to our amazing staff. The music blasting throughout the boat put us all in an excited mood because we knew the boat Olympics would be commencing today. I then went and put on my personal floatation device because we were about to sail to a new destination, and safety always comes first. Although the day started with some difficulties involving a boat engine, our staff(Incredible India, Magical Mike, Nautical Nat, and Genuine Grace) powered through and solved the problem in no time. For breakfast, Chef Maddie created the most amazing gluten-free pancakes a girl could ask for.

After breakfast, I got dressed and ready for the day. I greeted my amazing roommates(Kayla, Mallory, and Sophia) and then went upstairs. It was then my turn to sweat. Both literally and sailing-wise. I got to raise the sail while Ali managed the wheel. Unfortunately, I was not strong enough to raise the sail on my own, and Mike had to step in and help me out. Never fret. The sail got up in the end. I then had the opportunity to drive the boats myself, and I think I did an exquisite job because we did not crash or break down! We had a few hours of sailing to do, so in the late morning, Kayla, Mallory(after eating, and Anton took naps on the power tower(super comfortable, btw). When it was time for lunch, we all gathered around as Liz and Maddie prepared our sandwich ingredients. We then all played a fun game with India and Grace to help us get more hydrated! Now onto the most epic story you shall ever hear. Today was the boat Olympics, meaning our boat would compete with others in 3 strenuous challenges. Sophia and Anton prepared us well with their knowledge of last year’s Olympics, and we could not have done it without them.

We all prepped ourselves with sunscreen, sunshirts, and an amazing attitude. We hopped on a dingy and went over to another boat, Highlander, to get hyped and ready. We decked ourselves in zinc with “Avizia” on our legs. Personally, I think we looked amazing in our matching zinc colors and styles. Our fearless leader, India, gave us the best pep talk ever and made us ready to win the Olympics. We then took another boat ride onto the beach, where we huddled and discussed our game plan. Our plan was to beat the 12-year-olds; you will find out if we did later.

The first event was a tug of war. We all lined up and got ready to pull. Unfortunately, we lost, but it’s okay because it didn’t dampen our spirits. We just got hyped again and decided to put our entire efforts into the next event. We lined up behind each other and got ready to enact the life of a baby turtle. It was so much fun. Anton, Ali, and Sophia moved swiftly and efficiently, leading us to victory. Sophia even tackled the counselors who tried to push her down. Nate unfortunately got pummeled into the water by British Ben, but they still persevered. Obviously, we rose victorious to the challenge all because of Anton and his fast skills. We truly would not have won without him. Finally, Maddie became the victor of the paddle board challenge and won us all second place!!! Overall, the Olympics were so much fun, and we all had the best day ever. What I have learned is don’t lose to 12-year-olds, don’t clog a toilet, and don’t stand to take a picture unexpectedly.

Peace and love, Marg.
