Today is day 10 which means we have reached the half-way point of our crazy adventure. I am not going to focus on that too much because it freaks me out. Instead, let me tell you about the day we had.We woke up this morning at 7 a.m. to the sweet smell of cinnamon rolls being cooked by our two chefs, Hellie and Ollie D. While they were cooking, Jake, Zack, and myself removed the outboard engine from the dinghy and hoisted it onto the engine mount. Then we hoisted the dinghy onto the deck using the main halyard and ratcheted it to the deck. After enjoying our cinnamon rolls and yogurt we left for Antigua. The journey from Nevis to Antigua is up wind; which means the direct 45 nautical mile journey becomes more like 65. After three hours we passed Redonda, tacked, and began to head North-East. We enjoyed sandwiches for lunch and a few hours later we began to head back toward Antigua. We sailed past Western Antigua and headed around to English Harbor on the southern side of the island. Before we headed into the harbor we ate while underway, which is no easy task. Especially when it is tortellini with marinara sauce and garlic bread. However, if you think it would be difficult to eat on a 35-degree angle, try cooking. It is an arduous task that our chefs handled like pros. After eating, we dropped sails and headed into the harbor to dock, do the dishes, and shower. This day has been packed full of sailing and it has all been amazing. I cannot wait for tomorrow.
