Location: Little Harbor, Jost van Dyke

We started the day off bright and early to the sounds of dumping rain as we prepared to go on the infamous AQ hike. We enjoyed a hardy breakfast of cereal, got our phones, and then geared up in our raincoats to go on our trek. We all started our voyage up the steep mountain, with JT at the very front and Kathryn, Anna, Ellie, and I in the very back. We walked, and walked, and walked, and walked, and finally made it to the top of the mountain, which was in the clouds, 2 hours later. Everyone got to sign the book at the very top that logged which “place” you made it to the top, and of course, JT was the second person to sign it. We then made the steady descent back down the mountain, some of us enjoying banana smoothies from a cafe at the top. Katie and I both called our family and friends on the way down, which was a great way to pass the time. When we got down to the bottom (another 2 hours later), we got to walk around the Cane Garden Bay town and eat food ashore, where we met up with Sofia, Luke A., and Maya. We also got to see Cheeseburger in Paradise, which is the restaurant where Jimmy Buffet wrote his song about. We stopped in at a grocery store to collect some snacks since we keep running out, and then we got back onto the boat and had to give back our phones. We chilled on the boat for a bit as the rain and thunder passed while Spencer, Luke C., Ellie, Anna, and I all utilized the rain as a freshwater rinse and played in the rain on the bow of the boat. Then we were on our way to Sandy Cay; we were supposed to have an intense sand castle competition amongst all of the boats, but the weather canceled that, so instead, we just hung out at the beach for about an hour and played in the ocean. We then took super quick ocean showers and got all dressed up for our second-to-last barbecue at Sidney’s. When we got to Sidney’s, we rafted with four other boats at the dock and then hopped off at the actual restaurant. Everyone spent a little too much money buying Sidney shirts from the little shops, and then we ate a delicious meal which consisted of pasta salad, jerk chicken, salad, and fruit. Grace requested for the DJ to play Cotton Eye Joe which got our entire boat up and dancing. At around 10 pm, we wrapped up the night and headed back to our boat to hang out, chill, and get ready for day 16!
