Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
The day started off with a wake-up call at 6:45 am to the lion king song, which was a great way to start the day off. Soon after that, we got ready and had breakfast which was cereal and melon, which was sooooo goood, thanks to Kiera and Sam. After breakfast, we hopped onto the dinghy. Once we arrived back in Spanish Town, we met Julie, who was the organizer of our first community service project. We took the safari taxi to the site. As we arrived we first weeded the ground and got rid of debris. Following that we had our sandwiches which were soooooo goood. Kiera, Payton, and Leo went to cut out holes in pipes which Julie instructed them to do so.
While sitting and taking a water break, two annoying birds felt the need to poop right on my LEG! Chloe helped me wipe poop. Later Thea, Chloe, and I went to go get a pickaxe at a nearby school. At the school, we met the sweetest kids, and after getting the axe, they hugged all of us, making us feel appreciated and loved. Julie showed us how to make concrete which was very hard and heavy to mix together. We placed six large wooden pillars into the six holes we dug. While everyone was holding their posts, we put the concrete in the holes to secure the posts. After that, we decided to call it a day after working a little over four and a half hours. On our walk back to the docks, Will tried to make the cars honk while passing by, which he successfully did, making all of us laugh. The ride back to the boat felt so nice since we were so hot.
After arriving back on the boat, we got into our bathing suits and jumped into the ocean, which felt so nice because of all the dirt that was EVERYWHERE. After the refreshing swim, we headed to vixen point, which is supposed to have many turtles!!! We had our daily ocean shower, which is always such a fun time with the beautiful sunset in the back and the music playing. While taking showers, Lina tried to push Will into the water, which was a fail since Will dragged her in with him. After the refreshing showers, Kiera and Sam made the delicious veggie burger which was sooo gooood. After dinner, we had a squeeze, which is always a special time. Now I’m writing the daily blog while everyone is cleaning up and relaxing, getting ready for the exciting day tomorrow.
