Location: West End, Tortola
This morning we woke up bright and early to make pancakes for our final onboard meal. At 7:15, Tom and I dropped off our dinghy and went to a pre-race skippers meeting at Norman Island-The Bight. Around eight we headed to the start line where we found someone hiding in out sail bag from another boat. Once the boats were in line, we began sailing to Road Harbor, tacking and sailing through the finish line. The race ended with Breakaway literally by inches and us in second, which was upsetting. We then dropped the sails and returned our stowaway to his boat to begin some hardcore cleaning and heading back to west end. We cleaned every inch of the boat pausing to make a huge mess at 12:00 for lunch of leftovers from the whole trip- some people even made chicken salad, hot dogs, and mac n’ cheese all in a sandwich. We then cleaned more while waiting to dock in West End. Somehow we finished with a pretty clean boat around 2:00 pm and some people went to land to hang out or get more food from a restaurant. Once everyone was back, we showered on the dock and did our final squeeze. Once everyone was dressed and ready to go, we headed over to the final BBQ. Afterward, all the boats gathered to hear Mike’s final talk, and we took our flag down and cut it, with each person getting a piece. Once all that was over, we headed back to our boat.
