Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
Today, I, Chloe T or C.C, am going to tell you guys all about our adventure. This morning, we woke up to a beautiful sun and some blasting music; though still very tired, we managed to get everybody up and at least half awake. When we started to wake up fully, we were told by the amazing Rachel that we had to get our swag on! We had to get up and get moving! Once we got everybody in swimsuits and sunscreen, we had the fluffiest pancakes made by Jasmine, our chef of the day. As delicious as the were we had to leave them to clean up the mess that we had made, though cleaning dishes doesn’t take that long, it certainly is not the cleanest. Plus, we are the loudest, craziest, and most fun boat out there, so it takes us two times longer than the other boats. When we finally finished, we got set up to go shore for around three hours, but that time flew by very fast since we had so much fun together. We went empty-handed and came back with many shirts, juices, and souvenirs. And not only did we buy, but we explored, learned, and laughed. Afterward, we got back onto our boat, grabbed our PFDs, and set sail to Muskmelon Bay, and that was quite an experience. We worked together to put up our main sail and genoa, always having to work with the wind. All was well until we discovered a certain problem with a flag. As we were easing the main sheet, saw that the sail was not taking the extra slack, when we looked all over we finally found what was blocking our sad main sheet. When we saw what was blocking it, mama Stich immediately went to try to fix it. We had our dive flag caught in the pulley of the main sheet, causing our main sheet to block. Our flag took so long to take out, plus we had to actually take apart the pulley to be able to get it out, and it did not come out in one piece. Even though our dive flag was wrecked, the main sheet can now function, and we had a great laugh trying to get it out. All four of our staff members had to work together to get the flag out, and we were all laughing by the end of our little adventure. Once we finally got to Muskmelon Bay, we took off our PFDs and jumped into the water to take our usual saltwater showers. Then, it was time for dinner tonight. The menu was beef and tomato stroganoff.
Delicious at the end of our dinner we did our daily squeeze, the question of the day was what is the most interesting part of the boat that you discovered, plus we did the wobble, our signature dance. Then, we had to clean up all of our dishes and put them back into their homes. Since Blake is doing the Barracuda course, he went on a night dive after, and since Riley, Redden, and Henry are doing Carina, they went to different boats to do some more advanced sail training. The rest of the group was taught how to tie some specific knots with different lines. Blake, Rachel, and Stich came back from the night dive excited about all the cool things they saw: rays, arrow crabs, two squids, and a BABY SQUID. After everybody came back from what they were doing, we all started to set up for bed, even if we weren’t going to bed for another couple of hours. And that, ladies and gentlemen men, was the summary of our adventurous day on Highlander. Thank you for taking your time to reading this, it has been my pleasure to writing to you!
Staff note while proofreading: We might have just seen dolphins… unsure because it was dark. We hope we see more tomorrow in the most beautiful bay in the BVI!
