We started our day with a deep dawn dive at Musk Melon Bay. We splashed at six in the morning; I obviously dove wearing my pajama set for dramatic effect. Our dive was twenty minutes with a max depth of seventy feet. We all cracked open eggs to play with the pressurized yolk. This made Josh and I hungry, so we fried and scrambled eggs for the whole boat. This is a delicacy because instead of cooking two cartons of eggs in one pot, we got to take our time frying and scrambling in separate pans. But of course, breakfast is never complete without vanilla cake! Then, the rare occasion of having nothing to do occurred. I beat everybody in the boat with my bare hands in the card game spit. Next, I experienced my favorite dive at ActionQuest, we practiced teaching confined water discover scuba diving. I was grouped with Player, Sally, and Daisy. India rotated, asking one of us to teach two skills and the rest to be students who have never dove before.
The first instructor was Sally. The minute she started, Daisy pulled a banana out of her pocket and smooshed it on her face. Sally used her best attempts to relax Daisy when Player tried bolting up to the surface. Sally’s struggle of pulling fins and dumping BCDs had me dying laughing. Then I had to instruct; I confiscated two eggs and ripped Player off Sally’s tank. Wail, Sally was on Daisy’s tank. The minute I thought I was ready to do my first skill, Sally had her fins in the air and her forehead on the ground. The minute I got her down, Player was 10 feet away. Once I started the second skill, Sally started digging in the sand with her face on the floor. I did an excellent job. Daisy was up next. She got an egg cracked in her face. I took off my fins and Player and ran away from her. She caught one of us in each of her arms and took us back to the lesson. She did a great job with Sally’s constant sabotage. Player got three eggs cracked in his face and was pretty good at pulling us back before we escaped. We all started to run out of air from laughing so hard, so he had to surface. We all laughed and debriefed at the surface. We had downtime to study and tan before we ate bean soup.
Right after lunch, we had our open water Discover scuba dive practice. Each DMC had an instructor pretending to discover scuba diving. This meant we were supposed to keep hold of them while they dive and solve any problems that occurred. Once we descended, the instructors went feral. Swimming away, inflating, deflating, throwing fins, weights, masks. There were at least two cartons of eggs floating around. This was a scene, if you took a step back it looked like an underwater war. Everyone involved couldn’t stop laughing! That was all the diving we had to do today, so we took off to do water sports. We all killed in! Then, we had a dance mom-themed pyramid of our dive sketches for the Kraken dive. Claire was at the top of the pyramid! Once we were done, we swam and showered for a few hours till we started getting ready for the BBQ. We met up with the rest of the fleet for burgers, hot dogs, and cookies. We just got back. We all had an amazing day!
