Location: Statia
Hi, this is Skipper Sadie writing to you from the beautiful coast of Statia. We started the day at 7 am with a wonderful breakfast of oatmeal while we began our sail to the Dutch island of Statia. Evan, Peyton, and Orly took the first shift while the rest of us settled in. To say the least, the sail was slow and steady, yet our spirits were high. As we approached the island in the distance, we couldn’t help but admire how beautifully breathtaking Saba looked from afar. As we continued on, some of us took naps between watch shifts while others made bracelets or read. For lunch, Andrew and Celeste were tasked with making the impossible meal of Kraft Mac and Cheese. Unfortunately, Celeste was on watch, so I took over for her. Andrew and I spent an hour meticulously crafting the mac, but unfortunately we somehow managed to mess it up so bad nobody finished a bowl.
Nevertheless, we continued our sail. I was deep into my own nap after finishing off the Oreos when I heard someone shout there were dolphins! Finally, we ended our sail at around 2 or 3. While Claire went on her own little adventure for us to clear customs, we all sat in the Galley, sharing funny stories. To be specific, Scarlett shared a story so good everyone died laughing. Eventually, Claire returned, and we left for the island via dingy. On shore, we met with the other Minerva boat before doing some shopping and grabbing smoothies at a nearby restaurant. Next we decided to try and find a supermarket to restock our snack supply. Back on board, we ocean showered and chowed down on the delicious chicken, risotto, and salad Claire prepared for us. To finish the day, we listened to a very educational sail chat.
XOXO, Sadie
