It feels like just yesterday that this group of students sailed away from the dock for the first time. What an incredible session this has been! Davis, Adam, and I are so impressed by how far the students have progressed as divers and sailors, as well as how the group has come together as a whole. Our crew performed well in the race with Jacob killing it at the helm. Alex using his skills to trim the sails, and Peyton showing her muscles tending the jib sheet. The final scenario allowed the students to put their acquired rescue knowledge to the test, and they executed their emergency action plan nearly perfectly. Hannah and Stefan can perform flawless in-water rescue breaths, while Balin does a great job managing panicked divers. Isa and Jackson continued stepping into leadership roles, guiding the group. Besides diving skills, the crew has done so well with the sailing and life aboard aspects of our program. Morgan and Adrienne and champion dinghy wasters, while we can always trust Ethan and Luka to pick up and tie onto moorings. Robbie and Jonathan keep spirits high with their jokes and sense of humor. The staff are sad to see this group of shipmates go, but we are so proud of this fresh crew of rescue divers. We can’t wait to see where the currents may take them.
