It feels like we just started this trip, but the calendar says that we’re halfway through. If we think about it though, we have done quite a bit. Everybody on board is well on their way to being proficient sailors. Everybody has had the chance to maneuver the yacht under power and sail during drills and get ourselves around the BVI. We have also had the chance to do some good sail training onboard dinghies and medium-sized keelboats in smaller groups. It looks like everyone on board Spindrift III is going to be coming home with some great new sailing skills. Our advanced sailors, Gabe, Avice, Tim, Derek, and Cole, have been doing great thanks to a little help from Captain Liam over on Laurasia. They have already earned their VHF operator’s license. With the diving side of our program, our new divers have been moving rapidly. Just today, Tor was able to take Vega Divers. Alyssa, Dani, Ori, Mary, Gabe, Tim, Stephen, and Cameron were able to take their first open water dive after successfully completing their confined water dives and passing their scuba tests. The weather couldn’t be better, the smiles couldn’t be bigger, and we’re all eagerly awaiting our upcoming time on the windward side of Tortola.
