Day 12 began with an 8 am wake-up from Aidan and the peaceful sound of full-blast music. Anno and Ari cheffed up some incredible cereal for breakfast before we got ready for another day on shore in English Harbor. When both our boat and Mary Lee were ready to go, we departed for the bakery in town for some pre-sailing snacks. Mary enjoyed a carrot cake, and Ari and Ian from Mary Lee ate meatballs. After our snack, we took a quick 20-minute hike up to Antigua sail academy to learn how to sail small boats. Unfortunately, Mary Lee Ari tripped on the way up and cut his hand open. I recruited Anno to sail with me, and we set off to fit life jackets. I tried to get my group to wear matching pink jackets with me, but I was unsuccessful. Anda and Ari were the first in the water because they had experience with sailing. Davis and Aidan also went out on the boats while we waiting for our instructor. Ethan joined Mark and Theo from Mary Lee to be the first in the water. Next in was Alejandro and Aidan, and they very rudely poached Anno so we could no longer sail together as he promised me. The last two groups were Mary, Carolina, Jada, Ari, and I. In the boats, we learned how to tack, and we all took turns controlling the tiller, main sheet, and jib. The only person from meow or never to capsize was Ethan. After we finished sailing, we were given our phones and allowed to walk around the harbor to shop and eat lunch. My first stop was the grocery store, and then Ian, Anno, and I enjoyed our drinks by the water. After hanging out on the boat for a bit, Ari (Mary Lee) Anno and I walked up the road to grab lunch – we all ate delicious barbecue chicken. Once back on the boats, we put our laundry away, and Counselor Aidan, Matty P, and Davis began grilling corn, burgers, and hotdogs for dinner. All of the kids from both boats hung out on the hard top and drank tings provided by Matty P. Dinner was absolutely delicious, and we ended the night with ice cream to celebrate Aidan’s (Mary Lee) birthday!
