Location: Sydney's, Jost van Dyke
We arose at an unreasonable 6 AM to hike! We ate a quick breakfast of cereal and were off to get shuttled to the docks along with every boat. Mr. Mike gave us a quick speech about safety while hiking, and then we were off. With a ridiculous temp of 90 degrees and insane humidity, the hike was not for the weak. Scarlett was super excited to do the hike this year. Louella, Daniel, and I went up at a fast pace. We all met up at the smoothie shop near the top for a refresh. Blake was one of the first to the summit. Once we all got to the top, we had the hard decline down to lunch. We all ate lunch and shopped around. Micah and Matthew found some awesome hats as well. Violet got a giant Snocone. My step tracker read 18,000 steps in total. After lunch, we went back to the boat and motored over to Sandy Key for a sand castle contest. On the way, we had MOB(man over board) drills with fenders. Daniel and I were trading spots at the helm for the drills.
One catch for the sandcastle contest…….we were late. When we showed up, there was less than 5 minutes left. We were there for less than 15 minutes in total. After that, I took us off the mooring ball and headed over to Sydney’s for our BBQ. Evan, Cobrin, and Brenden were excited to see the other boats. After we were all dressed up and ready, we docked the boat to the other five boats rafted together. We all got off and headed to socialize and eat. The food was amazing, and seeing people was even better. After we were all done shopping and eating, we headed back to our boats and got ready for bed. The day was exhausting but so so worth it. Ready for Sandy Spit tomorrow.
