Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Waking up following the BBQ, Cobrin drove our boat off Sydney’s dock, getting ready for the sailing day ahead. What made this sailing day different was that our staff was going to give us minimal help in sailing the boat to our destination. With Luke on the helm while Daniel and Micah sweat the halyard, we set sail. After an hour or so of moving to our next destination at Sandy Spit, we got some practice with man overboard drills. When we sent one of our fenders overboard, Scarlett was at the helm, maneuvering the boat. She called out to Brendan and me to drop the sails to make it easier for her to turn around and pick up our runaway fender. We redid the drill with Louella on the helm, but unfortunately, we could not retrieve our fender with our boat alone. Matthew and Violet had to hop on the dinghy, with Matthew driving a perfect course for Violet to pick up the fender. Blake concluded our drills for the day, going to our anchor location for the night at Sandy Spit. We spent the rest of the afternoon at a beautiful blue water beach with the other boats in the AQ fleet. To end the day, we had delicious Franks and Beans for dinner and got ready for bed.
