Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Early this morning, we dove near Sandy Spit in order to earn our Search and Recovery certification. Our objective was to recover a kettle bell using a search pattern of choice and raising the object with a life bag. Following our dive, we began studying for our EFR and rescue exam. Afterwards, the tanks were pumped and we split into two groups and departed in our dingy to travel around the bend and dive “The Playgrounds”. My group was fortunate enough to encounter a squad of squid and a large reef shark. An honorable mention to the unbelievable reef structures. After finding our way back to the boat, our instructors surprised us during “study time” with our first emergency scenario. In my opinion and the (very qualified) opinion of my boat – we aced it! Dan rated us 8.5 out of 10! Tonight, we are leaving for the island, Sandy Spit, to join sail-side and Go Beyond in an all-camp BBQ on the beach.
