Location: Antigua to Gustavia, St. Barthelemy

This morning we woke up to a breakfast of pancakes and nutella. After cleaning up, advanced sailors had a sail chat while the beginner sailors took their exams and knot test. We then began our preparation for our next passage to St Barth’s. While we filled up our diesel tanks, we enjoyed a yummy lunch of grilled cheese. Then finally we raised our sails on a broad reach and headed northwest to St. Barth’s. This was our first time sailing downwind and as a safety precaution we had to set up a preventer to stop us from ever accidentally crash jibing. After a hour or two of sailing we had a dinner of garden burgers, baked beans, and mash potatoes. Afterwards all crew that was not on watch went to bed in preparations for their own watch later in the night. My group of Nathan and Rocco began our watch at ten and went until one. During that time we were sailing at ten knots which is ham for sailing downwind. We even caught up to the other minerva boat, La Bella Vita, and had to change our course because we came up upon them so quickly. Also, due to our fast speed we reached St. Barth’s way quicker than we ever could have imagined. Tomorrow we hope to have tons of fun in the new location! :))
