Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Ok, guys…. Today was the day for our sail practical test, so let me tell you about it. So far on the trip, the counselors have been helping us along the way, but today, they let us do everything in terms of sailing. First, Reese, Dylan, Sam V, Max, and Maxime put up the main sail. Everyone was doing a great job, so we moved on to the jib. For this group it was Loren, Malika, and Jorge putting up the jib. After we were done we were allowed to stop wherever we wanted for lunch. We searched on the map until we found a small remote island it moor on.
Sam C and Loren helped with the mooring ball. After when Skyler was cooking lunch, we all jumped in the water for a well-needed break. On this island, Sam C, Dylan, Max, and Jorge were fishing for a bit, but unfortunately, they didn’t catch anything. Then, once we were done with our chicken salad lunch, we got ready to get back on the water to set sail for our final destination for the night. On the way there, Evan, Sam C, and Malika put on the sails. On the way, we crossed the U.S.V.I. border for fun, but we quickly turned around. Once we got to our spot for the night, the water was super shallow, so when we were taking ocean showers, everyone was able to dive down and pick up some sand. When dinner was ready, we all ate it up, and then, since Loren was skipper today, she had to think of a question for everyone. She asked, “If the person to your right could be a season, what season would they be?” Everyone was able to think of some pretty accurate answers. After dinner, we all helped clean up and then got ready for bed. Goodnight, see you guys for another amazing day in the morning.
