Location: Sidney's, Jost van Dyke
Today began with an early wake up at 6:00 am so we could hike mount sage. I personally didn’t enjoy the hike as much, but some others did! We took over 17 breaks because the hike was completely vertical. It took us over two hours to get to the top, but the views on the way were gorgeous. We stopped at a local cafe on the way down to get very good banana smoothies which we thought would reenergize us for the hike down, but somehow the way down was almost worse than the way up. Drew, Hays, and I all ran half the way down, switching back and forth between walking backward while Meredith, Matthew, and Stella walked leisurely down the mountain. I took a couple of tumbles down the hill, but it was worth it for the side views. Once we got down, all of us got lunch at a restaurant that seemed to be amazing because of how hungry we were. After lunch, we had a little bit of shore time left, so we stopped at the grocery store and stocked up on a lot of snacks. Thomas went crazy on some bananas. We then got on the dingy and arrived at the boat. The plan was to make sandcastles at Sandy Cay, but it was raining, and we were running out of time, so we decided to just take our showers and get ready for the BBQ. We then got to the BBQ, got really cool shirts, and shopped around. Claire and Evan danced the whole time, and so did the other girls. Drew, Stella, Kate, and I all got a small braid in our hair at one of the shops. We all also got “sail naked” shirts that we have been seeing other counselors wear. We are planning to wear them during our boat race tomorrow. Once we were told to head back to the boat, we gathered all our items and took the dinghy back to our boat. Evan and I did foot baths due to blisters. Now, we are all winding down while each of us slowly head to bed, ready to get some sleep after a very energy-draining day.
