Today, everyone woke up around 7:30, had oatmeal and pineapple for breakfast, and then got ready for a rotation day. We started the day off by going out on boats in groups to do water sports such as,
Knee-Boarding, Wake-Boarding, and Water-Skiing. We then split the whole group into people who are getting their open water diver certificate (Group 1) and people who are getting their advanced open water diver certificate or already have it (Group 2). Group 1 went of to go do Zesting(Dinghy Sailing) while Group 2 headed off to get a refresher on diving by doing some test including, filling the mask and emptying it, making sure that our weights are sufficient and how we should breath to keep a relatively stable buoyancy, loosing the regulator and retrieving it, and how to get rid of the water left in the regulator when lost. We then all came back for lunch, where we had chicken salad wraps or peanut butter and jelly wraps. The chicken wraps were quite unwieldy and dripped everywhere. After lunch was finished, the groups changed activities, whereas Group 1 went to do diving, while Group 2 went to do Zesting(Dinghy sailing). During the dinghy sailing, only a couple of people went out to sail, as many had no experience or interest. The wind was quite strong at times and very light at others. The final activity of the
Rotation-Day had the whole group and a couple others back on the boat to learn about what knots would be used while aboard, those being the Cleat hitch, Bowline, and the Clove Hitch. After the last activity, everybody decided to jump off the side of the boat for a while and get some scenic pictures together. After the fun, it was time to take an ocean shower before dinner, which was chili with a side of rice and saltines. The question the Skipper asked today was, “What is your favorite place to vacation and why?” During the cleaning, a couple of waves came and hit the boat, causing the big pot and a bowl to fall off into the ocean. I will now be handing off this responsibility to Amelia for the fifth day.
