Location: Salt Island
Pearl and I (Katy) woke up in our cabin after a very, very long night of running around the boat to Suki, tickling our feet and saying, “RHONE DAYYY.” This day was supposedly the best day of the whole trip, and I can confirm it definitely was. The Rhone was a ship in 1867 that hit a bunch of rocks in front of Salt Island. Everything is super rusty and full of coral and fish. There was a TON to see. Pearl and I jumped out of bed and walked up the stairs to a buttery and sugary smell of pancakes. The chefs today were Suki and Andrew, the dream team. Every meal they cook is always so good. I already knew today was gonna be so much fun. We quickly sat down and finished up our meal so we could head over to Highlander, the dive boat. I threw on my sun shirt and got ready to dive. We got to Highlander and set up our equipment. This was the first real dive where we didn’t have to do any practice skills or anything, so I was so pumped. The groups were split by open water divers and advanced open water divers. So Amaya and I were in one group, Kennedy, Pearl, Gavin, and Suki were in another, with Lilliana and Andrew being the last group of open waters. And Cam, Dawson and Jovian were the only advanced divers so they got to actually swim through parts of the shipwreck while the rest of us just swam around.
Amaya and I saw two lobsters, a ton of cool fish, and the huge anchor sitting next to the ship. It was sooo cool. After our dive, we came back and had ramen, which was good, but it wasn’t good today because it was like 100 degrees outside. Pearl and I filled up our water bottles and came to sit outside and try and get a good tan, which we did. My face got fried, probably because I forgot to reapply sunscreen! My all-time favorite part of the day today, and I think a few other people could agree, was definitely doing flips off the dinghy and the stern of the boat. I could do a front flip, but I wanted to learn how to do a backflip. Cam taught me how to, and I kind of just went for it off the dinghy, and I realized it wasn’t even that hard. It took me a while to do it off the stern, but I’m super excited I finally got it.
After swimming for a super long time, taking a good nap on the power tower while we were moving to Peter Island, and taking ocean showers, Suki and Andrew got to work to start up our second Mexican Night, which was literally the BEST dinner so far on the boat. Today, since I was skipper, my question of the day was, “Who is your favorite singer?” Everyone answered, and Dawson decided to say his name was Jojo Siwa, while Cam said it was Taylor Swift. I changed out of my bathing suit into a T-shirt and shorts, which I usually wear at night. Right now, I am sitting right where I was tanning and listening to our playlist that we made called “ARIZZIA SES 2 🤙”. Only three more days, and I am so sad. Hopefully, I get a better night of sleep tonight!
P.S. I can’t wait to see you, Mom and Dad!!!! I’m so sad I can’t see you, Wallace, right when I get back. I miss you so much ❤️ 3 more daysss!!
