Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay

Hey guys, Griffin here. Today we started off at 7 o’clock, connected to the mega raft, we started at Sidney’s BBQ, having French toast made by Jules and Holden, before heading out for our Sail Practical Test. I was skipper today, so I was allowed to lead parts of the test, like raising the sails and making sure the watch teams all got a turn. For the sail test, each of the Watch Teams. Those being Jack, Carla, Leila, and Sloan on Watch Team One, Holden, Michel, Lucy, and Griffin on Watch Team Two, and Matilda, Amilia, Jules, and Natalia on Watch Team Three. For the Practical Test, we had to do a tack and a Jibe, respectively. We started by raising the sails, with me assigning roles to people. For the test, there were a couple of step,s like making sure that you had enough speed to turn through irons, maneuvering the two Jib Sheets while making sure we got it in fast enough, and using the helm.

On our lunch break, we headed to a nice, quiet spot where we had chicken salad wraps. After eating lunch, Holden, Griffin, and Jack decided to snorkel at the nearby reef, where everyone else joined shortly after. When we left our lunch spot, we had to finish the second half of the Practical Test, Jibing. During this part, we were told several other things we had to do to make sure we were safe during the practice, such as center-lining the boom and making sure we had a slow, controlled turn. After we finished the test, we headed to our anchor spot, which was very windy. We came in a little late to the docking, but managed to find a nice spot. We then ate Franks with beans and cornbread. Sadly, the dishy pit left the bean and rice pot, which we had to clean in the morning. The question was asked as the skipper asked, “What do you love about diving?” The activity we did after was one we did before, but I found it fun, so I wanted to do it again, which is called chieftain. The rules of the game call for a finder and a chieftain, whereas all the people sit in a circle following the chieftain’s movements, while the finder tries to find out who the chieftain is in three guesses. Anyway, im going to pass this on to Amelia.
