Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
The day started at 5 in the morning, with Tommy starting to cook eggs and muffins, Ace and Lanie taking over shortly after. The eggs were the best anyone had had in their AQ experience since they were cooked in a pan instead of boiled in a pot. After all the dishes were cleaned up, everyone worked together to finish the navigation knowledge reviews early around the table in the blue lagoon. After going over the reviews with the staff (and realizing JJ and I Had unreadable handwriting), we went on a beach trip in the pouring rain, where we trained some compass skills in buddy pairs. During that, the clouds cleared a bit, and some of the other boats pulled up once we were finished. We got to know them, and JJ Exchanged interesting stories with some of the other kids. Around 9, we sailed over to a nearby dive site called Sand circles, briefed, and then we started going on nav dives in 5 minute intervals.
Riley, Wyley, JJ, and I talked while we were waiting because we were waiting for someone to come back up. Tatum and Ellery got a bit disoriented and surfaced about 10 meters from the anchor line. Otherwise, the dive went very well, and some of us saw an octopus in a coral head. After the dive was done, we chilled until lunch, which was chicken salad with some kind of slimy baby carrots. After that, we practiced throws and tows in the water, where Ace was acting a little too realistically when acting as the diver in need of rescue, even though we had to scream ‘PIZZA’ and not ‘help’ so people didnt call the coast guard. After practicing with full gear, we did some with only masks, snorkels, and fins where we didn’t know in what situation the victims were going to be in, so we had to improvise. During this, one of the pool floats got swept away in the currents and was taken hostage by Good Times. It was the most fun that we had had so far, and thankfully nobody got hurt. Before dinner, a team was sent to take the pool float back. We didn’t get it, but she managed to catch a rubber chicken (The Shame Chicken) in one hand, allegedly. Before dinner, we all showered and hung out around the boat. The chefs made chili and rice for us, which most people enjoyed. After dinner, we played hide and seek around the boat, where Lilly and Ace got second by hiding in the sail bag, and Shane got first by hiding in the cabins.
Note to Gabi’s mom- she wants you to know that she has been working hard doing dishes!
