Location: Anegada
Hi everyone, I am Jack Townsend from Belmont, Massachusetts, a town right outside of Boston. Because today we moved from place to place, we used watch groups for the first time. They are just two groups that have certain roles for the sailing portion of the day. We had to drop anchor and pick up a few mooring balls. In the morning, we went from Leverick to Anegada. When leaving Leverick, watch group 1, including Amelia, Hannah, Dylan, Yonny, and Aubrie, helped pick up the anchor and left smoothly before gearing up in our rain jackets to have a dance party in the rain. Then when arriving at Anegada, group 2, including Carlos, Taylor, Aria, Belle, Avery, and myself, helped drop anchor. As we arrived at Anegada, we started the Olympics with all the other boats in ActionQuest.
Before this incredible event, Rangeley painted everyone’s face using our zinc sunscreen and put the Batman symbol for pure intimidation. It definitely worked. We arrived looking so scary that we could feel the other groups’ fear. Everyone had a great time striving for victory, and we made sure that we would win. Since Aria and Hanna are on the swim team, we had them lead in all the games involving swimming. The team did great and was super energetic, but in the end, we came in 3rd place. It was still a win because even the other group’s councilors commented on how well we worked as a team. We ended the day with some nice fresh showers after learning how to connect and tie ourselves to a mooring ball. Then we had one of my favorite dinners so far, which I went for the fourth serving of. The chefs, Hanna and Taylor, cooked us chicken, risotto, corn, and a salad, and our counselor Tait made us brownies as a treat for our hard work at the Olympics. Overall today was super fun, and it was nice to spend some time in the sun all together with the other groups. Miss you, Mom and Dad!
