Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
We started this morning off by waking up fairly early to get in our morning navigation dive and also to have room later to go on a fun dive. This is the first day that we have done two dives in a single day, but we are going to make it work. As we were getting into our gear, the brief went smoothly. Some people seemed a little nervous about using a compass in the water after not using one for a while. Alex and I are first to get our gear on and get in the water. Once again, we wait a little for the rest of the group, and eventually, we all are in the water in two groups descending. Alex, Daniella, Lily, and I are in the group with Cici. All of us were able to use the compass and do reciprocal headings and kick cycles fairly quickly. Once we went up from the dive, we found out that the other group’s dive went smoothly as well. We then sailed over to Blue Chromis Reef to do the last dive of the day. Most of us napped on the sail over.
Once we were fully moored, Cici did a short brief for the upcoming fun dive. We split off into the same two groups as the first dive and are on our way. Nothing really happens until we find the other group again, and Cici signals to us that there is a shark. Soon enough, both Groups are fully surrounded around a decently sized Nurse Shark. We were all swimming around it for a good while, waiting for everyone to get their pictures, and then we split up once again. After the shark, Cici asks us where we all think the boat is underwater, and of course, we all get it wrong, but a few minutes after that, we all ascend. Once we took all our gear off, we started sailing over to Savannah Bay. This sail was a little shorter, and like the first one, I took another nap. Once we arrived, the day started to wind down. We all started taking showers, and Lily was trying to teach the others how to flip off the boat. We were all drying off when we saw Nolan and Alex working on dinner: Alfredo Pasta with Sausage and garlic bread. It takes a little longer for dinner, but once it is ready, we all appreciate the effort put into the food. After we all dig in, we do squeeze, and the question I choose is, “What do you expect to see on our future dives together?” Most people said specific fish, but I said a whale because I have never seen one on a dive. That’s when we ended dinner with a squeeze and a clap and started to clean up, and the day slowly ended.
