Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Hi everyone!!! I’m Aria, and I’m skipper again, today was yet another fabulous day in the BVI :). We started the morning in GHP and ate the classic yet delicious cereal breakfast before setting sail for the dive site of the day. Henry was on helm, and the rest of us were being taught by the amazing Gordon how to tie penetration lines on wrecks. We all had to tie Bowline knots and then had to do three tie-offs. It’s safe to say the inside of Pure Joy was quite the maze. After all succeeding, we went on our first dive of the day on a tugboat wreck where we were tasked with tying the bowline with tie-offs; while one buddy did this, the other practiced how to use the line to guide through a wreck.
Riley and I went first in MMegan’sgroup, and it was safe to say we ate it up. We then did our safety stop, where we met up with Matt and Henry. After surfacing, we took apart our kits and started prep for lunch: MAC AND CHEESE DAY!!!! Spirits were high as the meal was served, but afterward, the post-dive exhaustion got to us, and we all slumped out. After some extensive and refreshing naps, we got hyped for our next dive on the same tugboat wreck. This time, we actually got to penetrate a wreck for the first time (officially). It was so cool. We swam through a bathroom and many other parts of the wreck—definitely one of the coolest dives of the trip and one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. There was a massive school of blue fish in the middle of the wreck and we got to see little pools of water on the top of the wreck from our bubbles. After penetrating the tugboat, we swam over to a barge and got to swim underneath it, which was so so so cool. And now we are wreck-certified!!!! We only have a few dives left of the trip :/ But we finished all the dives required for our certifications. After surfacing, we chilled for a bit and then got ready to set sail back to GHP. Riley was fabulous on the helm, Matt and Henry chatted with Megan up front, Lily and Brie napped (again), and Hanna, Avery, Kellen, Cahan, Charly, and I studied up for our test later tonight. We arrived at GHP again in high spirits because: MEGA MEGA RAFT. All of the dive side, one Minerva boat – Different Drummer, Graytful (our friends from last night), and Mike are all rafted up for the night.
Alanna and Hanna finished cooking up dinner, which was Mexican night! Overall an amazing meal day. We all ate the yummy food, and then halfway through the squeeze, Different Drummer started blasting some bangers, so we had a mini-lit dance party before getting right into cleanup. A few minutes into cleanup, our boat was raided by Forever For Now, and they teamed up with the guys here on Pure Joy to take down Gordon. They picked him up at the bow and tossed him into the water, best believe I videoed the whole thing. Then, our boat turned into an absolute war zone as Gordon turned on everyone and attempted to attack us. Now, we are finishing up clean up, jamming out, and preppingIt’s our advanced scuba test. It’s so crazy we are almost advanced divers. We have all come so far from thWe’veckout dive on day one. We’ve learned so many skills to make us better scuba divers and have We’reso many amazing sites. We’re all sad the trip is coming to an end so we are making the most of the last few days and are all super excited to knock out this test and go hang with all the other boats. Second to the last blog of the trip :/ Byeeeeee everyone!!
To the fam – miss you guys so so much!
