Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
The morning started with a late wake-up of nine in the morning. While we were all sleeping, our lovely staff started the sail to our dive location, Great Harbor. The amazing cooks, Parker and Lucy, made breakfast bagels and yogurt for breakfast. After breakfast, we continued our sail, and I got the chance to sail and drive the boat onto the mooring ball. Once we arrived, we started to get our gear set up and ate a quick lunch of deli sandwiches. The Neptunes: Parker, Maya, Katie, and Mason took a dinghy over to another boat, Pure Joy, for their first deep dive. During the dive, they went 80 feet and cracked eggs underwater. While the Neptunes did their dive, the Dolphins, Jasper, Sean, Reese, Paloma, Megan, Lucy, Will(Ron), and I had a quick chat about how to use underwater cameras. After learning how to use the camera, everybody but Will went on the dive and took photos of the reef and us in sunglasses with bananas. While we were taking photos, Will went back to the boat after not being able to equalize his ears. On the boat, he had a super fun workout session with the staff, Will. Later, once we all joined back together on our boat, Kyler set up bin bags on the table for the Dolphin’s dissection.
We got to learn how to dissect a dogfish! The other dolphins from the boat Good Time came over, and Maya joined us as Kyler taught us all about dogfish and the internal structure of sharks. While the dissection was happening, Katie, Parker, and Mason went out water skiing and wakeboarding. As the day was coming to an end, our chefs made us chicken Caesar salad. We cleaned up, and Will (Ron) and Jasper finished up a game of Qwirkle. The last activity of the night was a wreck lecture for the Neptunes and a check-in for the DolphinDolphin’sch projects. We are all so excited for tomorrow morning because of the amazing dives to come!
