Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
This morning was a bit of a slower one, starting with a wake-up of 7:30. Soon after, all the instructors left for their whole team meeting with big Mike, and Ellery and Ava got started chafing up some pancakes. We had a bit of a bump in the road, though, when we found out the propane tank was empty, meaning no pancakes for us…. We got saved by the instructors when they came back, though, as they changed the tank for us, and we got to finishing up the pancake making before heading out of Marina Key a little later than planned. We had about an hour sail, where Cameron played captain, posted up at the helm. When we arrived at our first dive site of the day, the Kraken, everyone suited up and splashed. There were a TON of jellyfish and big fish that were swimming around us, so it was a super cool dive. After that, Lorelei, Maya, Ellery, Audrey, Casey, Ava, and Kate all napped on the top of the boat in the sun while we sailed a long way to Muskmelon Bay. Aiden, Stella, and Ash all sat in the salon and read, making their way through their books. It was a bit of a calmer afternoon, consisting of just sailing, but fun being all together anyway. Once we got to Muskmelon, we had some veggie tiki masala, then briefed for our night dive. After separating into our groups, we splashed, then enjoyed the dive. During his ascent, Jackson found a tarpon scale, which was pretty cool, and Rachel’s group all saw some tiny squids! We put our kit away, then quickly ocean showered with the massive amount of tarpon in the water, which was very spooky since we all thought they were going to come and eat us, and now it’s finally time for a 9 pm bedtime!
