Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Today started off with an early wake-up at 5:30 so that we could begin our passage from Mountain Point to The Baths. Once we arrived at the baths, we enjoyed bagels and yogurt for breakfast. Sydnei and Claire attempted to bring up our energy with a dance party, but even if we were there emotionally, spiritually, and mentally, none of us could get there physically since we were all too tired. After cleanup, we changed into swimsuits and rash guards. We then dinghied towards the beach and jumped in since we had to swim to shore. With many other students there taking their group photos, we knew we had to assert our dominance by creating our impressive pyramid. After that, we spent a few hours climbing through the Baths, jumping off the rocks, and hanging out on the beach. Once we got back to the boat, we got to enjoy freshwater Hibiclens showers leaving all of us feeling nice and clean. After, we motored to Spanish Town, where we had some shore time and refilled on water. We had a delicious lunch of burgers, wraps, fries, and smoothies. With full stomachs, we walked around town to go to the grocery store and do some shopping. Once we returned to the boat, we undocked and started motoring towards Vixen Point. We put up the sails and enjoyed a nice few hours on the water. We got excited as we gracefully passed through Cows Mouth. Once we arrived at Vixen Point, we anchored and started to prepare dinner. We had beef stroganoff and some, unfortunately, soggy garlic bread.
There was also some interdigitating (waffling with our feet) under the cockpit table, which kept us entertained. After dinner, we did clean up and were greeted by a huge barracuda off our stern. We then got serenaded by Aiden as we prepared to learn some knots to end off the night. While jamming out to Pitbull, we somewhat successfully learned four knots. We teamed up in small groups to learn the clove hitch, cleat hitch, bowline, and sheet bend. It was quite an interesting process as some people had difficulty being knotty. By the end of the night, we all successfully completed the knots, achieving ultimate knottiness. Today was relaxing, so hopefully, we will all be recharged for our exciting rotation day tomorrow!
