This morning, we woke up bright and early at 6 to begin our hike to the top of Sage Mountain. We fueled up with the best pre-hike food cereal – not. We headed over to the dock for our informative pre-hike talk from Mike before we set off. The hike starts off with an incredibly steep uphill hike that had our calves burning, which Declan did amazingly, powering through. We reached the top, which sadly didn’t have a view, but we rewarded ourselves with some delicious banana smoothies before hiking right back down for lunch while talking with our families for the first time in a while, which was really nice. Matthew, Dawson, and some friends from Oryx decided to run down the hills for maximum efficiency while I tried a new technique of walking backwards. After devouring our luxurious non-boat food and restocking on some snacks and souvenirs, we returned to Why Knot. We moved the boat over to Sandy Cay for our sand castle competition. Madi and I, as the resident artists on the boat, planned our design, which consisted of a massive octopus in a life ring, which was a team effort. Dawson added some unique eyes, Ruby added rocks to add some design to the life ring, Roman wrote Why Knot in seaweed, everyone else helped create the octopus, and Scarlett gave the judges a very convincing spiel, but apparently not convincing enough because we took 2nd to Hope’s turtles. Then we got ready for the barbecue at Sydney’s, and our staff performed a swap where London was dressed as Player, Player was Rachel, Rachel was dressed as London—I even drew London’s tattoos on her. At the barbecue, most of us, including Lucy and Evan, bought really cool t-shirts. Humphrey even got his hair braided. After socializing for a while, we went back to our boat, and now we are currently sitting outside, and Redden is telling us some stories before we head off to bed.
