Hello viewers, it’s me, Lucy, again! Today was a crazy, jam-packed day filled with lots of fun, water activities, and sweat. We started our last Monday of the trip at 6:00 am, ready to conquer the intimidating day ahead of us. Once we ate our cereal and fruit, Matty P handed out what we call gold, our phones. After, we all boarded the dinghy and headed over to the base of our 6-mile hike/walk. As soon as the entirety of Action Quest was starting to walk, Joshua, speedy as always, got a running start and made sure he was one of the leaders of the pack. I won’t lie, viewers, this walk was ROUGH. Unlike Joshua, Meredith chose a slower pace, making sure to stop at all the scenic views.
Ella S, Hopie, Lulu, Ella W, and I decided to save our energy, making sure to stick together and make it to the top in one piece. 3/4ths of the way up, the group stopped at a small mountain shack to rehydrate with banana smoothies, fruit punch, and water. As we climbed the final stretch of the hike through rigid BVI jungle, Ollie pumped us up with some compelling “dad music”. Once you made it to the top, you were able to sign your name in the Action Quest book to see what number person you were on the hike. Wilkes was the 10th person to make it to the top of the whole program! We were all very proud. We all agreed that walking down was much more difficult because our knees were weak by the end. Thompson had the brilliant idea to walk backward downhill, and let’s just say no one needs knee replacements now as we grubbed on as much food as we could contain; Josie and Grayson were so happy to be done that they started dancing on the beach to celebrate! After a long first couple hours of our day, we took a short sail to the most beautiful beach and had a sand castle contest with every boat in the program. Let’s just say we did not do as well as we wanted…We concluded our long journey with a much-needed ocean shower, making sure to scrub every piece of dirt, sweat, (and maybe tears) of our skin. The girls were frantic over what we were going to wear to tonight’s BBQ as it was our section to last one:( We ended our day with an excellent dinner provided by Sidney’s on Jost van Dyke island with music, braiding, dancing, ice cream, and LOTS of tee shirt buying (PS: Shamwari has a lot of gifts to give out to our families). Once the BBQ ended, we all agreed that we had about 100,000 steps combined today and needed a recharge. I know you’ll myou’ll annual blogs, but I’m sureI’mu are all eager to hear the details of our trip very, very soon. Bye for now!!
