Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
Welcome to Meow or Never’s 15th-day blog! Today was by far one of the busiest days of the camp, with a hike, shore time, and a barbecue. We woke up slightly earlier than usual today, waking at 5:30 instead of 7:00, but for a good reason because we needed to have breakfast (Dalila almost slept through it) and be at the dock by 6:30! The hike itself was breathtaking, with the first hour and a half on the side of Tortola, overlooking the southern British Virgin Islands. We all hiked up four miles to the top, where a few of us hiked the extra fifteen minutes to sign our names in the leather book. Reid and I were some of the first 30 people to reach it. The views of all the islands took everyone by surprise, and we all enjoyed seeing where we had spent two weeks from a different perspective. On the hike down, it rained a little bit and cooled everyone off. At the end of the five-mile hike, we had a few hours of shore time where Eliza, Enya, Georgia, and Libby split pizzas and burgers. Reese Rut accidentally ordered nine tacos, which she shared with Annika and other campers. We had our phones for the majority of the time on shore and during the hike, so we all enjoyed contacting our parents and friends. We had a quick sail to Sandy Cay (Sophie had a very nice nap, exhausted from the hike), where some of us visited the beach while some people stayed on the boat, like Brij, who took a nice swim. Reese Roth found cool colorful rocks (staff note: sea glass) and shells at the beach. We all came back and took showers, and Max did some cool snorkeling before our second-to-last barbecue at Sidney’s Peace and Love. We all danced, ate dinner, and got some cool shirts at the barbecue. Today was a long day packed with tons of fun!
