Location: Marina Cay

Today we embarked at 8:30 am to our dive spot at Bronco Billy’s, where we stayed until shortly after lunch. As skipper today, I stayed at the helm with Stich, and when we arrived at our dive spot, our dive masters, Luke A., Grace, and JT parted ways with us to do their own activities. They started the day off with us and then went on to complete four separate dives today, including co-leading an open water dive with us along with a mapping dive on their own, continued by two navigation dives with younger boats. For our first dive today, we practiced a few open water skills and then went on a fun open water dive for 20 minutes, where my group, including Kathryn S. and Ellie, saw a good bit of fire coral and a rainbow parrot fish. We then went on a second dive that was more focused on staying in one area and watching what the fish were doing. Following our dives, we regrouped as a boat and took our final exam for our open water certification, and everyone passed! Then we took a swim break and all hung out for a little before learning how to make Turkshead bracelets which only Sophia, Katie W., and JT were able to successfully make. We then motored over to Marina Cays, where we are staying through the night. For dinner, Luke A. and Grace made tortellini with marina sauce which ended with one of the prettiest sunsets we’ve seen so far. Following dinner, the dishy pit consisting of Ellie, Maya, Katie W., and Paige had an invite-only dance party while Luke C. and Spencer danced at the top of the boat. As we’re ending the night, we are all listening to a Lifeworks tape together while the dive masters head out to the land to go to a pool to practice confined diving skills.
