Location: Marina Cay
Hi everyone! I’m Taylor from New York City. Update: the balsamic vinegar was leaking all on its own, so there is no culprit, and at this time, our investigation is closed. Today was an exciting day. We each got to take the helm of Odyssey for a little bit and practice tacking, which means turning the boat into the wind to go in the opposite direction. But first, we had to raise the sails. Aria, Jack, and Avery pulled the sail up while Bree took in the slack in the halyard, and Carlos and I watched to make sure it didn’t get caught. It was so windy today! The fastest we went was 10 knots, which Tait said is twice as fast as we usually go when we’re using motors.
After we had all tacked, Rangeley, Amelia, Brie, Aria, Yoni, Hannah, and Dylan took the sails down, and we went for a quick swim before going to our next stop to get fresh water. It was a very quick swim because we realized there was a ton of jellyfish in the water. They were so cool to see, but no one wanted to get stung, so we watched from the boat. When we were anchoring for the night, I accidentally dropped the anchor into the water with the remote. Sorry Tait and Sylvia! We had to call Mike to help us get it back. Luckily the bridal was attached to it, so we didn’t have to dive to get it. But it was definitely a little stressful. Jack, Bell, and I helped Tait, Sylvia, and Mike retrieve it. Then we all showered quickly, and we’re now singing to Taylor Swift while we washed the dishes from dinner, which was a delicious beef stroganoff. Miss you so much, Mom, Dad, Bo, Scon, and Lucy!
