Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today was the first day of sailing races!!! I was the skipper of the day, meaning that I got to go to the race meeting with Margaux and pick our starting positions for the first and second races. We started off strong with Emerson at the helm, steering us smoothly to our first stop, West End, unfortunately, we came in 4th place of the magnificent catamarans, but it still was fun to try and push the boat. We had shore time, and everyone was very excited to eat at Pussers, especially Talia because she had been waiting to find and buy a Pussers hoodie (she found a super cute turquoise and orange one). Luke and I got Pussers famous wings which everyone tried and loved. Hugh also had some really good food which he devoured. After we left the docks, the second race started with Luke, Cate, Charlie, and I at the helm. At some points during the sail, Mariah started pranking people with toothpaste-filled Oreos. Lueck swapped out with Charlie for a little while helming. Sean helped get one of the caught lazy jacks unstuck. Gianna spent some time learning a new friendship bracelet style, and it’s super fun to make. We ended up losing to the second race but were very close at the end. Everyone grew a lot closer when we all joined the sailors at the helm. We finished the day with Mexican food and our final sail test.
