Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island

We woke to a bright sunrise in the choppy marina of Leverick Bay. Closely following our 7 am wake-up call, Shay, Andrew, Lucas, and Niko were called to the bow to assist in the raising of our secondary anchor. Once our boat was free from the ocean floor, our skipper Matt began us on our long journey to the spot we would be spending the rest of the day, Great Harbor Peter. Shortly after we set sail, our two chefs for the day, Scott and Ryan, began cooking up a delicious breakfast of French toast topped with syrup and Nutella. Once we all filled up on fuel for the morning, we began our second major round of rescue diving homework. Working together, we managed to complete most of the bookwork in time to enjoy the sun and breeze for the last leg of our journey. Some of us napped while others worked on their tan up on the hardtop. When we arrived in Great Harbor, Peter, Alicia, and Rooks helped Bianca and Griffin anchor the boat. Once all of our PFDs were clipped on the lifelines, Rooks, our gopher for the day, set out deli meat, peanut butter, and jelly in preparation for our lunch of various sandwiches.

After we had all eaten, it was time for our daily dive. This particular dive was our second search and recovery dive, where we would have to use the skills we learned to locate certain objects hidden by Bianca and Griffin. We all gathered around the table for a quick dive brief before we kitted up to hop in the water. Fifteen minutes later, everyone was seated at the stern of the boat with all their dive gear on. Andrew and Rooks were the first dive group in the water, followed closely by Alicia and Mireille. During this dive, the goal was to locate a “lost” kettlebell using the expanding square search pattern. All of the dive groups completed the task and recovered the kettlebell. After all of us had surfaced and stored our dive gear, we enjoyed some relaxing swimming off the back of the boat as well as just hanging out around the boat.

During this free time, Andrew, Rooks, and Scott assisted Matt and Griffin with some much-needed boat maintenance while the rest of us watched from the sideline. Once the job was finished, a small group consisting of Lucas, Niko, Rhiannon, and myself climbed in our super dingy Shaka to enjoy some pre-dinner wakeboarding and knee boarding. After many spills due to the less-than-calm water conditions, the 4 of us sped back to the boat for some quick ocean showers before a great Mexican-style dinner prepared by Scott and Ryan. Once we had all had enough to eat, the dishy pit for the day quickly cleaned everything up so we could begin our dive chat for the evening. A few videos and knowledge reviews later, it was off to bed for the crew of Event Horizon, and just like that, another wonderful day spent under that blazing Caribbean sun had come to a close.
