Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Our zesty day began at the crack of dawn (7:00 am), to the eccentric song: No Ordinary Girl, and the 12 of us (Sigma Port Jib) were ready to take on our first frisky rotation day. This is a collection of activities including: Zesting- mini sailboats with a partner; scuba diving- just the basics, learning new skills; and finally, engaging in a series of dangerous water sports including: knee boarding, wake boarding, and water skiing, but half the battle was staying on the dinghy. With chicken salad wraps and fruit as a healthy, nutritional lunch in between the rotations, with music blasting, we successfully concluded our first rotation day with minimal to NO sunburns! Over a nice hot bowl of beef stroganoff (and salad) made by Chloe and Grace. Zesting, for those who don’t know, is an activity on a 7-foot boat, barely fitting two people with a singular sail and rudder. Maci and Ada were fortunate enough to “turtle”, an act of completely flipping the zesty boat to where the sail is 90 degrees to the surface (submerged underwater). Our first experience of suba-iing was SUBER dangerous (in knee deep water) for 2 hours, going over basic scenarios. The water sports encompass a wide range of skill levels. Kellan staying up on the wake board for 3 minutes, versus Elin (me) trying 8 times to even get up (I’ve tried excusing it since she has past experience). Finally returned to our home (Sigma Jib Port) , setting sail to Vixon Point and anchoring next to a beautiful beach with baby goats making noises at us. Finally, it was time to conclude our day with an ocean showering with backflips and other tricks, with a side of shampoo and conditioner. After everyone settled, we got in our PJs and had a DELICIOUS meal, where the most BEAUTIFUL sunset provided us with sentimental conversations. The conclusion of today is our collective realization that although we have only known each other for 5 days, we already feel like a family, and our anticipation of the end of our trip together will be filled with tears. Catch ya tomorrow!!
