Having the responsibility of writing the last blog is definitely nerve-racking. I don’t think I could perfectly describe the feelings and emotions from today without everyone. So, right now, I’m with the rest of the boat, and we are writing this together. Today started with us waking up to the songs “Walking on Sunshine” and “Our Last Summer.”
Now, a little rap about our dive:
We got straight into the day right away. We went out to a dive cause things were getting live. We saw a puffer fish, and it was Kaleigh’s wish. The dive was so pretty. It made us all do a shimmy.
As you can tell, it’s been a long day.
After that, we did a big, humongous boat appreciation. But before that, we did our last ocean swim with everyone. It started to become sentimental then. Lucy and I got launched 15 feet into the water by Liam. I think I even saw Marin shed a few tears. Boat appreciation consisted of us cleaning every nook and cranny of this boat. We are truly on Forever for Now, because this boat is getting retired after we leave. We are the last group to set foot on this boat at ActionQuest. We took everything off this boat and all packed our bags. We cleaned the heads, the cabins, the windows, and every bit of the boat.
Liam, Alex, Rudy, and Robbie all helped carry the big heavy stuff while the girls all used cleaning supplies to wash things down. We all showed teamwork and put in our part to get it done. We got done early and got a nice lunch all together in West End. Robbie was finally able to get his steak. He wolfed that down in t-minus 4 minutes. Madi finally got a smoothie after waiting maybe 10 minutes for the woman to look her way. We all soaked in the last moments together during our time at land. We made it back to the boat around 4 o’clock. After learning about the evening scheduale we all rushed around the multiple docks to find fresh water to take showers in.
We repeated the first day and took a dock shower. We all still remember when I sprayed Liam with a laser of water on the first day. We then all sat in a circle and did our final squeeze of the session. We went around and said something we appreciated about the day and also answered the question, “What is something you hated but know you will secretly miss about the trip?”. Elise said that she hated dishy pit but secretly would miss it. We all can agree some of the best conversations come from there. We then did the most sacred part of ActionQuest… we cut up our flag in even pieces for everyone to keep and get signatures on. We got a big group picture with it first, of course. Gabrielle got the best part, in my opinion. She got the sailboat picture of the flag. We got ready for the last and final barbecue with the whole of ActionQuest. It was short and sweet, and Mike, in the end, read the book “The Places You’ll Go.” After, we all ran around getting people to sign our flags after the barbecue. We will all see our families very soon, maybe some in less than 24 hours. We are so happy with our experience here and the people we have met. Our whole boat has gotten very close, and we are grateful to have each other. Thank you, ActionQuest, and goodbye Forever for Now.
