Location: Savannah Bay, Virgin Gorda

Today, we woke up at 7:30 in South Bay peter island and ate the best breakfast, which consisted of bagels and yogurt. Probably the best-nontoasted bagel I will ever eat, tbh, and the strawberry yogurt was buss. After a quick breakfast, we sailed from South Bay Peter Island to Cooper Island, and most of us took a nap while Shay was on the helm with Matt. There we had a quick scuba chat and talked about what we would do on our next dive. Our instructors told us to start practicing putting together our diver equipment faster, and… let’s just say no one would have been saved today, BUT Scott would have rescued someone in record time because he was already at the stern of the boat with his dive gear on and ready while I was grabbing my BCD at the bow. By the end of this trip, we will hopefully get faster with it🤞Anyways, we did our first sport dive and performed a few self-rescue drills during our dive. One of the skills was to practice how to deal with vertigo (when you aren’t aware of which direction the surface is). Basically, Bianca and Griffin spun and flipped us all around like a washing machine and made us dizzy to simulate the feeling of vertigo 🫨😵‍💫 It was very fun. Overall, the dive was beautiful. We saw so much water life and coral. Once we surfaced, we ate up some crazy pb+j’s and ate an entire bag of baby carrots.

After lunch, we sailed from Cooper Island to Savanah Bay. Once we were all ready for a relaxing sail, we were told to read and quiz ourselves on half of our rescue textbook. So that took a while, but it was cool to learn more about what rescue diver does and how they act. We learned the difference between a panicked diver and a tired diver and how to approach each one in order to assist and help in the best way. We also learned a lot of other scenarios and other equipment and to keep close by in case of emergency. After we all (somewhat) finished our studying, we made it to Savanah Bay, and we were able to do some snorkeling and flips off the dinghy and boat while taking our ocean showers. Rooks, Ryan, and Alicia learned how to do a backflip today, and Andrew and Mireille crushed it, attempting a gainer. Lucas, unfortunately, absolutely ate it trying a back flip but don’t worry, he’s okay 👌

While everyone else was showering, Ryan and Trey cheffed it UP in the galley. They made creamy alfredo, hotdogs with veggies, and scrumptious garlic bread. Dinner was absolutely gas. Afterward, we had to clean up, and while we were all messing around, kinda a lot of Alfredo spilled (sorry to Simon because he was decky today). Now we’re about to sit down for a scuba lecture for the rest of the evening. Today was definitely a 10/10. Also, while I was typing this, I would like to mention how great Niko is on the guitar (yes, he packed a whole guitar), and he was playing some bops 🤘🎸

To my fam, I love you guys so much 🫶
