Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Hello families! It’s Leila writing to you all. I am very excited to write about this crazy, fun day because it has been one of the best ones yet. Most of us on Beso del Viento got an earlier than usual start to our morning at 6:15 AM when we were woken up by the boat’s engine, beginning our journey to the Baths. At the Baths, we got the chance to spend time together and with other boats (safely) jumping off rocks. Kaya and Avery proved their diving skills at the Baths when they “death dove” into the water, and Tony even taught them how to twist in the air before following through with the death dive. River hit an insane backflip off the 15-footer. Some people had a different experience in the Baths, like Laurel when she cut her feet on the walk up to the rocks and Arthur when he went head first on a front flip. Sahil also back-flopped. We all had the best time. After the Baths, we had our first Hibiclens shower of the trip and sailed to Spanish Town!
In town, we shopped around and finally had our first iced drinks of the trip, and Michelle and I shared a grouper sandwich!! The girls of Beso got a sweet treat after lunch, yet Michelle and Carlie unfortunately got spoiled chocolate ice cream. However, Laurel earned her well-deserved bubblegum ice cream after her rough day. We also reaped the benefits of having air conditioning on land when we sat in a fancy bathroom and bonded through Avery and Grace’s great stories. During our sail back to Vixen Point, River, Dillon, and Arthur relaxed on the nets while Carlie, Michelle, Laurel, Sahil, and I chatted. When we arrived, Emma and Margaret gave us a sail chat and Alivia and Sahil were already so informed on the parts of the boat. I should probably ask them to tutor me. During this sail chat, our watch teams split up and competed in who could sing the “Points of Sail” song the loudest. I believe my watch team was screaming our hearts out, but we somehow lost to the other watch teams and were put to the task of making brownies for the boat. During our sail chat, JT cooked our dinner of garlic bread and beef stroganoff, which I’ve never tried before but am so thankful I did. After dinner, I got the chance to ask the question and decide on the activity during the nightly squeeze, which was “What is your favorite song, and why?” I decided that we should play an intense game of Ninja after, and Avery won!! Now, my amazing (and loud) watch team is making brownies for the rest of the boat while we dance to our music. We shared laughs and memories today, and I am so grateful for this group of people.
Love,
Leila, Dillon, Grace, Carlie, Avery, Arthur, River, Laurel, Kaya, Alivia, Michelle, & Sahil
