Flamingo Fiasco
Crazy Train by Ozzy Osborne was not something I thought I would ever wake up to, yet today, that is how the whole boat was awoken. Once we were up, we were all broken up into groups to do rotations for the day. The rotations consisted of a navigation dive, a skills dive, a study period, and a snorkel along the mangroves that we led for other students. I started the day with Kai and Daisy on a navigation dive where we worked on reciprocal headings, navigating in a square, and a few skills. After we finished, we met up with David, Sally, and Claire and told them about the stingray and baby angel fish we saw on the dive while on our trek of a dingy ride back to the boat. We quickly swapped hearts and got back on the dingy with Josh, Jake, and Lizzie, who had just finished leading the snorkel around the mangroves. They told us about the turtle one student saw and how their guiding went.
We then hopped in the water with India to practice taking our gear off while diving, practicing teaching a fully flooded mask, and practicing a 5-point ascent. We got out of the water irked because we all completed the skill much better than the dive before. We then made our way back to the boat for lunch. Fast forward a little bit to dinner. We had veggie burgers, and Mike joined us for dinner. We all went around and told our guilty pleasure songs after dinner during squeeze and then showered while listening to them. As we showered, we saw some waves in the distance that didn’t seem to be an issue until they got to the boat, and we all realized they were huge. They rocked the boat while we were in the water and caused all our dishes to fall from the table and smash onto the deck. As we were cleaning this up Sedona brought out a face mask that all the girls put on. Anise, Sally, Lizzie, Daisy, and Claire all had extra on their hands that they ended up applying to all of the guys, who then led to a photo shoot. During this, a flamingo flew around the boat and into the sunset. After this, we took more pictures and finished cleaning up our mess from dinner. Now, we are all sitting inside the salon discussing our day, Chapter 6 in our study materials, and reviewing RDP tables.
