Location: Saba
After a much-needed rest after passage to Saba, Hagentime started at 7:00 today with calm waters and a big bowl of cereal. At around 8.15, we all hopped on the dinghy to one of Sabas’ roads. Hagen Time and Harbor House joined up to take two taxis up the increasingly steep and narrow roads of Saba. When we finally reached the town of Saba, we went for a quick shop at the supermarket and a snack at the local bakery. We then divided into two groups: The Hikers (group 1) and the Lazy ones (group 2)(The Hikers’ path was much harder, basically) to go hiking in the jungles of Saba. Christina (not really, she quit after 2 minutes), Lauryl, Zoe, and I were the only ones who went on the Hikers path along with Evan, JJ, Jackson, Ellery & Tati from Harbor House. The long hike consisted of many slippery stairs, mud and vines, it wasn’t very enjoyable, until we reached the scenic view. We all got to enjoy a lovely view in the clouds, overlooking the town, after an hour and a half of torture; it was worth it. After our hikes we all went to lunch, group 1 went to a mexican restaurant where we had quesadillas and steak, Stella apparently was full with her lasagna and then decided to eat brownies. Both groups then crossed each other and talked about their hikes. Giles wouldn’t stop talking about how easy the hike was, but honestly, the view and the accomplishment were worth the hard hike. While group 1 was walking, group 2 got to go glass blowing with a local legend called Jobean, who runs a little shop where she makes all sorts of accessories out of blown glass, and if you bought something worth $25, you got to blow your own necklace and get taught by her. After that, we all left for the town to go to the dock, Henry, Nate, Lawson, and Hayes met with Jordan and Jaleeyel (two local kids).
Hiii, it’s Zoe again. I hope to keep the blog posts more timely, but we will see what the data connection gods have in store for us. Also, hi Mom, Dad, Luke, and Oakley, I hope you are having a good summer, and I can’t wait to tell you about these wonderful and brave Minerva students.
