Location: Sidney's, Jost van Dyke
Our day started off at 6 AM as we hyped each other up for a treacherous hike ahead of us. We had some cereal and quickly made our way to the starting point. Mike briefed us on some tips, and we soon found ourselves hiking up a vertical road. We were rewarded with some rain which was much appreciated to cool us off! We had some amazing views of the BVI as we walked. However, George and Thomas ran up instead, claiming a solid first and second place at the summit! At the top, everyone felt accomplished, and we gave a store owner the business of his life! We emptied his stock of delicious banana smoothies.
At the end of this 3-4 hour hike, we checked our step count, which was anywhere between 15-20 thousand steps before lunchtime! We had some delicious lunch on shore and treated ourselves to some well-earned snacks. We also got phone time, so everybody was able to check in with family and friends back at home. Next, we returned to our boat and got ready for some contrastingly relaxing time on the beach.
At the beach, we played around with a ball and had an action quest-wide sandcastle contest (our boat built the coolest one). We made a dollar bill with George’s head in the middle posing as George Washington. As we collectively buried him and protected his face from the sand, staff and students walked by complimenting our masterpiece $$$. We even saw a tiny lemon shark there!
To end off this amazing day, we took some showers and are currently making our way to our third barbecue of the trip at Sydney’s! A day to be remembered for sure!
