Today was an early rise, with the day starting at around six. A tasty breakfast of French toast and cantaloupe that was prepared by Tyler and Tate. We had all wisely set up our gear the night before, so it was simply a matter of dragging ourselves over to our tanks and throwing them on in preparation for our early morning dive, where we practiced search and rescue skills. All in all, it went well, even if we were not quite able to get everything we needed to do. The major snag was that everyone ran low on air very quickly, with some, like Tate, needing to grab his buddy’s alternate. On the upside, we also found a free shirt and free playing cards on the bottom. Tyler and Lorden were mesmerized by a large hermit crab scuttling on the bottom. After all the gear had been put away, it was a fairly short sail over to the dock. Some grocery shopping was attempted, but it was quickly cut short by a torrential downpour. Instead, we chose to cozy up inside the cabin and relax while we waited to finish filling our water tanks and head out to the mooring ball.

We then persevered through classroom instruction on primary and secondary care. Afterwards, a test was administered to determine whether or not we could now say “Hello my name is (your name) I am an emergency first responder”. Kyler came over from Forever, For Now, to teach ERF to us all. It was a long lecture filled with a lot of information about CPR bleeding and the like. We then paired up into small groups to practice what we had learned. We made an excellent victim check for horrific injuries. After a quick shower and some dressing up, we all headed off to the BBQ. It was a very fun and very hectic event with all of the boats coming together, and the food was delicious. DJ Heavy Beats made his annual appearance, and Tate was surprised by the annual appearance of the $10 Virgin Daquiris. No pulled pork sandwich will ever match that sandwich. Finally, we all piled into the dinghy, exhausted and ready for tomorrow.
