Location: Antigua

Andrew here. This is a recap of Different DDrummer’sday. This was our first full day in Antigua after arriving very late from our big sail. After getting a well-deserved sleep-in, we ate breakfast and then did a huge boat clean, including cabins, heads, and even a ton of Boobie poop off of the top deck. Claire and Matty P cleared us through immigration, so we moved the boat to NNelson’sDockyard. From there, we met up with Frenchie and finally got to drop our laundry off after ten days of constantly reusing clothes. The only problem with not having laundry is that most of us have next to no clothes for the next day or two. Now it was time for the Beach Olympics!!! Ben and Matty P thought of 3 incredible challenges. The first challenge of the Olympics was a tug of war—best of 3. The first game was Different Drummer Domination!!! Not even close. Then Frenchie had the idea of recruiting some locals. So, the next game was a very close defeat. But it was a best out of 3, so it was the final game. This time, Scarlett recruited some locals and took the tug-of-war win!!! Now it was 1-0 different drummer. Two games left. Next were beach flags. It was similar to musical chairs but with some switch-ups. After two rounds, it was Sadie and Scarlett vs 9 Frenchies. With many rule-breaking Frenchies and some hard-working Drummers, it was down to Scarlett vs two Frenchies. Sadly, there was some smart strategizing, which meant we took the loss. Now it is 1-1. The final game is Pringle Crawl. Basically, there was a Pringles can in front of each team, and we had to crawl between everybody’s legs and then go into the sea and try to gather as much water as possible. This could be in our hands, shirts, hats, anything. But the thing is, each team was allowed a “offensive” player to stop the opposing player from gathering water. This game was contact allowed! Mostly, everyone had a turn on the defensive and did a great job of tackling and holding Frenchie back from grabbing as much water as possible. Sadly, we took the loss. Devastating defeat for the Drummers, but we learn from our mistakes. We headed back to the boats and finally got to take Freshwater showers!!! Now we had some time to walk around the area and go to the market. Restock on snacks and shop at the local shops. To finish the night, we had a big barbecue with Frenchie and some amazing grilling from Ben and Matty P. The burgers and hot dogs were amazing. The day ended with people from both boats coming together and sharing their amazing memories. That was a day in Different Drummer’s lives.
Until next time,
Andrew
