Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island

Today we woke up in Muskmelon Bay to the beautiful sounds of the soundtrack of Rio. After cleaning up all our sleepy sacks arrangements from the night before, we started our breakfast of cereal 🥣. Emma, Maggie, Leo, and Frosty did dishy pit then Schuyler and Armaan deckied. We then went to the chaos raft on Shape Up and Avizia. The other shippies there were Meow or Never, Avizia, and Shape Up. We all either paddleboarded, zested, jumped off the boom swing, swam, or just hung out on the hard top reading or taking a quick nap. Some kids who are taking either basic or advanced sail practiced our knots since our knot test is tomorrow.

Maggie, Maddie, Mimi, and Emma were super happy because one of the counselors on Avizia played Taylor Swift for them. After a few hours, we headed back home and had chicken salad sandwiches for lunch. After a speedy dishy pit and clean up, we got our kits ready and hopped in the water. Today was our first deep dive, and descended to a max depth of 70 feet. We used our slates to see how colors look at different depths. We noticed that red and orange “disappear” first and turn to a muddy brown color. Ian and Sela were our dive instructors today, and they brought an egg down to our max depth to see how it would look. After cracking, the yolk and whites stayed intact, and we could almost play catch with it. After ascending back to the surface, we cleaned up all the dive gear and grabbed our life jackets to go underway. Leo, Armaan, and Maddie sweat the hally, and Declan and Mimi were on the helm/sheets. After a somewhat chill passage where we tried to fix our broken laz, we arrived at Sandy Spit. Sandy Spit is basically a tiny island with a few trees and shrubs on it. The fleet is here for our second bbq. They put a barbecue right on the beach, and we all just chill out and have a good time. Right now, everyone is getting ready, but not too fancy since it’s a wet entry. We’re all super excited since the whole fleet is here, and we can see friends/siblings from other boats. Once we get back, we’re going to take showers and then settle down for bed.
