Today definitely didn’t go as planned. We began the day with a hearty breakfast of oatmeal prepped by Natalie and Jan. Shortly thereafter, we were given a rotation block where we could sail little Pico boats, play volleyball or chill out on the beach. Afterward, Jake gave us the opportunity to have a “study hall” time on the beach, which the majority of my fellow shipmates, not including Oscar and I, the boat’s residential overachievers who already finished all of our coursework, utilized to complete their Divemaster coursebook. Right around the time, we were all back on board, a minor bit of rough weather passed through, and we were forced to pick up anchor and move to a mooring ball. Our lovely chefs prepared mac and cheese during this time that we greatly appreciated after this bit of stormy weather. One solid jam-dishwashing sesh later, we were back on the beach reviewing, for most, the EFR course and practicing CPR and other various skills on dummies. Tonight is the beach party, and I think I speak for all the DMs when I say we’re pumped.
