Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
Hello! It’s Elias. To put today in one word, it can be considered Mellow. The entire ship had to wake up around 6:30 in the morning in order to sail from Sommer Beach to Muskmelon Bay. Waking up so early to hard rock can be seen as an interesting way of waking up and coping with tiredness, and as such, hard rock music can jolt someone from dead asleep to standing up within 3 seconds. Anyway, breakfast was a simple oatmeal affair, which prepped us for a long day ahead.
The first rotation was at 8 AM, and I was scuba diving. The setup of equipment was not very eventful, although it still went well without any unexpected surprises arising as everyone got inside the water around 15 minutes later. The advanced divers which included Lorelai, Reid, Evan, and I were supposed to have an exiting deep dive although 10 Minutes in Lorelai started to have ear problems which meant the group of us had to go up towards the surface since she couldn’t dive and deeper. We proceeded to drop her off on the dive boat, although when going back down, I started to feel a sinus squeeze and couldn’t dive anymore, which was disappointing for both myself and Lorelai although, on a brighter note, Reid and Evan had a successful dive and are officially certified as advanced open water divers!
The open water divers spent 10 minutes doing excursions on the surface by just practicing navigation skills and tasking weights in case of an emergency. Then, they proceeded to go underwater to do simple skills such as taking off their mask and doing more navigation skills by counting cycle kicks. Afterward, with the amount of air left, they decided to have a fun dive. Mar felt like doing ballet skills underwater, and Angie saw a massive sting ray, with more exciting news being that Vanessa was the first to be certified as an open water diver.
The next rotation was chaos rafting, which entails two boats being attached to each other and providing different possibilities such as tanning, paddle boarding, zesting, and water sports! The majority of the time was spent socializing with the other boats, which is equally as fun as doing all of these activities. Krisi was the biggest help today with paddle-boarding to the boat and bringing back raisins since we were all hungry and asking for actual snacks.
Moreover, today had the best lunch of the entire trip with it being quesadillas with an abundance of cheese inside, making this probably the highlight of the trip so far!! Additionally, after lunch was spent just reading or sleeping, with the only interesting thing happening being Laila, Gabby, Vanessa, and Reid picking up a jellyfish and playing around with it in their hands.
Lastly, towards the end of the day, I was spent sailing to Cane Garden Bay with the entire boat enjoying napping. After arriving, dinner was being prepared, with it being another amazing meal being chicken and curry.
