Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola

It all comes full circle! Today marked the morning of our second full week at AQ. We woke up where we anchored last night to the Rio soundtrack ( which is amazing, might I add) and then started our daily chores, including making breakfast which was scrambled eggs. Once we finished breakfast and I was able to finish the novel I bought in Village Cay, we started our motor out to monkey point, where we would be diving that morning. Our dive today was a fun dive for most, but for Serenity, Mia, and I, this would be our second boat dive where we would plan and execute our own dive without our instructors. The reef where we dove was gorgeous, but as Jake told us in our dive brief, a lot of it had been affected by coral bleaching and stony coral disease, which was hard to see. Overall the dive went well (other than some navigational errors on my part), and we had plenty of free time afterward for lunch which was cheddar broccoli soup and swimming. The swimming was especially exciting and gave us a chance to use the new floats we got in Village Cay. After swimming, we were given a short equipment lecture about the gear a fully equipped diver should have and ended it with a game of who could put together their dive kit the fastest while being blindfolded. Lawrence won our little game with an impressive record of one minute and three seconds to finish. Lastly, we finished out our day at the second AQ BBQ, where our instructors made us a feast of hotdogs, hamburgers, and Action Quest punch which was amazing. We bonded with the other boats (particularly soul rebels, who I hope we raft with soon) and then helped clean the beach before our dingy back to “Good Times”. Now as I write this, the sun has gone down, and I can hear my crew mates on the hardtop talking about the night’s adventures and waiting for more to come for tomorrow. Until then!
