Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Today we woke up to the sweet smell of French toast made by Ari and Josie. After breakfast, we got ready to jump in the water for our first-ever research dive. Our goal was to ID as many fish as possible to understand the reef’s populations. So much fun! Once we dried off, we headed to Leverick Bay for lunch on shore. We had a nice two hours of exploration and long-awaited phone time! After a semi-homesickening call with you all, we got suited up again to explore the mangroves on Vixen Island. Then the night slipped into our classic routine of daily ocean showers. Until we put on our nicest outfits to hit the dance floor and take sunset pictures, we would be hitting the dance floor with all the other Action Quest students at our first-ever BBQ at Leverick Bay. We had a classic cookout dinner of salads, pulled pork, burgers, and fresh watermelon. While Tyler was socializing and enjoying Dj Heavy Beats (a Dj veteran for AQ); Josie, Emi, and Mahe enjoyed the evening breeze in the hammocks. Once our social batteries had been drained, Kylie, Juno, Juju, Antonio, Ellie, Sonja, and Ari played a paranoid game of Paranoia. Eventually, 10 o’clock rolled around, and we dinghyed back to our second home, Vela Vita. After our usual nightly yap session, we headed to bed, ready for another lovely day tomorrow!
