Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Today we got to sleep in until 7:30 and enjoyed an easy morning while the staff was at a meeting. Caroline and Jack cooked us delicious fluffy pancakes for breakfast that many had with Nutella and peanut butter. After breakfast and cleanup, we motored over to Sandy Spit. We completed a skills circuit including four underwater skills and one surface skill. We demonstrated a duck dive at the surface and then demonstrated mask removal and replacement, regulator removal and recovery, maskless swim, and CESA underwater. Kaleigh and I spent extra time underwater with Ash to perfect our skills and had a lot of fun doing them. We enjoyed delicious chicken salad wraps for lunch. After lunch, Jack and Harley completed their gear exchange, and everyone else finished their skills. Then we finally had some time to relax on the hardtop and enjoy the sunshine. Harley and Bella had a great time spraying everyone with water guns and throwing each other in the water. Later in the afternoon, we spent a ton of time working on our divemaster workbooks. I also helped explain the RDP tables to those who didn’t understand them. We have coined Chapter 9 of the book as “AP SCUBA” because of how challenging it is. We spent a lot of time reviewing since our final exam is tomorrow. Aiden and Sean also got to lead a group of advanced divers this afternoon on their Fish ID dive, where they got to see an octopus, but unfortunately, they missed out on AP scuba review, which of course, is more fun. We had to take a break from our review to enjoy franks, beans, and cornbread for dinner. After dinner and cleanup, we will continue to review our divemaster books to prepare us for the exam tomorrow. Today was very relaxing, which was a nice change of pace from our extremely busy rotation days.
